Graymont is pleased to announce that Lake Superior State University (LSSU) will be the new Administrator of the local Community Development Fund (CDF) associated with Graymont’s Rexton Project. Eric Becks will act as the LSSU point of contact for the CDF.
This fund continues Graymont’s 2015 commitment to contribute $100,000 per year to a local community development fund (CDF) for at least the first 5 years or until a lime processing facility is operating in the project area. During the 2016 award cycle three local townships, one school district and one museum were awarded. A coordinating committee comprised of representation local to the project area will continue to evaluate applications.
This fund, established in cooperation with local organizations in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, provides opportunities for enhanced economic growth and support for regional initiatives and projects which can benefit those living and working in the communities by providing funding to organizations for small business support, assistance for schools and educators, human services, road and infrastructure improvements, conservation and the enhancement of recreational opportunities, and health and wellness.
Grant applications will be accepted beginning May 1, 2017 and until midnight on July 31, 2017. Applications submitted after July 31, 2017 will not be considered. Grants are expected to be awarded in fall of 2017
